Nos toca el último evento de esta gran edición de octubre enfocada al cable y la fibra en prensariozone, tras lo que hicimos este mes con Jornadas de Argentina, Nextv Series México y FiberConnect Latam de ese mismo país.
Ahora toca el turno de la Expo Cable Tec SCTE, que vuelve al Colorado Convention Center, de Denver, del 16 al 19 de octubre, celebrando sus 40 años de la feria en el mercado.
La expo está organizada por la sociedad de ingenieros del Cable y las Telecomunicaciones de Estados Unidos, la SCTE, y sigue siendo la principal referencia para los grandes operadores de tv paga de América Latina que han seguido la misma línea de los de Estados Unidos; por eso siempre son habituales asistentes con sus planas mayores de tecnología, por ejemplo, Megacable con Raymundo Fernández; Izzi con el Ing. Israel Madiedo; Millicom, con todo su equipo; Liberty Media Cono Norte, Claro VTR, TV Cable Ecuador, Telecom de Argentina, Telecentro de ese país, Cable & Wireless, Altice, Claro, Telefónica, los operadores de Montevideo y otros.
Como ya hemos dicho otras veces, es un evento clave para ir a ver a los verdaderos tomadores de decisión de las grandes empresas, y más ahora con la evolución y fusiones que se están dando en el mercado.
Más allá de cierta debilidad por la apuesta en Estados Unidos a la continuidad del HFC y sus bases instaladas frente al crecimiento enorme de la fibra óptica y el FTTH, la expo demostró el año pasado en Philadelphia una excelente salud y todas sus fortalezas expresadas en concurrencia y vitalidad. Además, la mayoría de las marcas y fabricantes también muestran sus novedades para la industria de la fibra y las telecomunicaciones.
Agenda con los premios 40 Aniversario
En resumen el mensaje es siempre de marcado optimismo y eso se muestra en el slogan EXPOnential, que emana de la primera Open Session el martes 17 a las 10 am, en el Mile High Ballroom. La protagonizarán Mary Spio, de CEEK Metaverse y RichDiGeronimo de CharterCommunications.
Esta vez no habrá una entrega entrega de premios a continuación de la apertura, ya que la misma será dentro del marco de una fiesta especial por el 40 Aniversario de la expo, al día siguiente, el miércoles 18, a las 6 pm.
El jueves 19 está el desayuno de SCTE/ANGA, que suele reconocer a técnicos de Latam, y los International Tech-Games será el jueves de 9 a las 12:30.
Conferencias incluyendo al Chapter CALA
Acerca de las conferencias, se plantea avanzar al Docsis 4.0, como llevar a Docsis a las redes 5G, y hasta se hablará de Wifi7. Sin duda se verá también lo que pasa con el Remote PHY.
También habrá conferencias sobre las nuevas tendencias con menos STBs, Redes convergentes para MSOs, la utilización de la IA (Artificial Intelligence) en servicios de video e IOT.
En otras charlas durante el día miércoles se abordaran temas como la convergencia de redes de cable y móviles; servicios con baja latencia; y utomatización de operaciones.
Dentro de las exposiciones en Español, se destaca el miércoles a las 8 am la conferencia en “Desde la nube a los cables”, dictada por Roberto López: superando desafíos y recibiendo el futuro en el despliegue de las redes. A las 11 habrá otra charla dirigida al público latino, en esta oportunidad en idioma inglés y versará sobre “Lo que viene en la industria del cable en Latinoamérica”.
El Chapter de Latinoamérica, liderado por Steve Harris, se juntará desde el martes.
Expo Cable Tec SCTE Returns to Denver, Celebrating its 40th Anniversary

Now it’s time for Expo Cable Tec SCTE, returning to the Colorado Convention Center in Denver from October 16 to 19, celebrating its 40 years in the market. The expo is organized by the Society of Cable and Telecommunications Engineers of the United States, SCTE, and continues to be the main reference for major pay-TV operators in Latin America who have followed the same path as those in the United States. That’s why it’s customary to see them attend with their top technology executives, such as Megacable with Raymundo Fernández; Izzi with Engineer Israel Madiedo; Millicom, with their entire team; Liberty Media North Cone, Claro VTR, TV Cable Ecuador, Telecom Argentina, Telecentro, Super, Cable & Wireless, Altice, Claro, Telefonica, the operators from Montevideo, and many others.
As we’ve mentioned before, it’s a key event to meet the true decision-makers of major companies, especially now with the evolution and mergers taking place in the market. Despite some lingering preference in the United States for the continuity of HFC and its installed bases in the face of the enormous growth of fiber optics and FTTH, the expo demonstrated excellent health and all its strengths last year in Philadelphia, as evidenced by the turnout and vitality. Furthermore, most brands and manufacturers also showcase their innovations for the fiber and telecommunications industry.
Schedule with 40th Anniversary Awards
In summary, the message is always one of marked optimism, reflected in the slogan EXPOnential, emanating from the first Open Session on Tuesday, the 17th, at 10 am, in the Mile High Ballroom. On Thursday the 19th, there’s the SCTE/ANGA breakfast, which usually honors technicians from Latam, and the International Tech-Games will take place from 9 am to 12:30 pm.
Conferences, including the CALA Chapter
Regarding the conferences, there are plans to advance to Docsis 4.0, explore how to integrate Docsis into 5G networks, and even discuss Wifi7. Without a doubt, there will also be discussions about the Remote PHY. There will also be conferences on new trends with fewer STBs, Converged Networks for MSOs, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in video services, and IoT. Other talks on Wednesday will cover topics such as the convergence of cable and mobile networks, services with low latency, and operational automation.
Within the Spanish-language exhibitions, Wednesday at 8 am will feature the conference «From the Cloud to the Cables,» delivered by Roberto López, addressing challenges and embracing the future in network deployment. At 11 am, there will be another talk aimed at the Latin audience, this time in English, focusing on «What’s Coming in the Cable Industry in Latin America.»
The Latin America Chapter, led by Steve Harris, will convene from Tuesday onwards.
