Amongst the highlights of Cobalt’s recent additions is the COBALT® SAPPHIRE converter series and COBALT®WAVE routers and control panels.
SAPPHIRE SERIES – Conversion on a monitor, or in a rack
The COBALT® SAPPHIRE Converter series accommodates a vast variety of applications with form factors ranging from the BBG series of palm-sized mini converters to rack mounted openGear® cards. The SAPPHIRE BBG mini converters are mounted directly behind the monitor offering high-quality design, function, and reliability in a small package that frees up rack space.
The units display Baseband or JPEG-XS content on HDMI monitors in a simple and cost-effective way, including content from WAN connections. The incredibly quiet converters are ideal for trucks, educational institutions, corporate settings, or houses of worship. BBG units, offered in single, dual and quad channel models, are capable of fully asynchronous operation and are IPMX-compliant.
The COBALT® SAPPHIRE feature-rich openGear® converter cards maximize space for greater installation integrity. The SAPPHIRE 9926 openGear® HDMI-to-SDI converter cards provide either two or four independent paths of true 12G and HD conversions from HDMI to SMPTE 424M, 292M, or 259M. Each channel is equipped with frame sync as well as full input and output audio crosspoints and optional per-path color correction and scaler. Cobalt also offers the SAPPHIRE 9927 dual-channel openGear® SDI-To-HDMI converter, and the COBALT SAPPHIRE BIDI-2H2S dual channel bidirectional HDMI to SDI / SDI to HDMI converter.

Multi-Format COBALT WAVE Routers from SD to 4K – Flexible, Easy to Use and Integrate
The COBALT WAVE family of routers are flexible, simple to use and easily integrated into any variety of applications with support for signals up to 12G-SDI. The recently released COBALT® WAVE RTR-32×32 is a 32×32 crosspoint solution that fits into a 4U frame, same as the COBALT® WAVE RTR-64×64. Both feature full-size BNC connectors, have a single 10/100/1000 Ethernet port for IP-based control, and offer RP-168 switching support. The web-based control allows full setup, salvos, monitoring, and preset management. This compact design is specifically optimized for 12G SDI operation but handles lower SDI rates with ease, as well as ASI and MADI. Cobalt routers feature an open modern control API for third party integration, as well as support for traditional control protocols. Cobalt also offers 12×12 and 24×24 routers in openGear® card form factor.
COBALT WAVE Control Panels Available in 4 Configurations
Control of the COBALT WAVE routers is accomplished by Cobalt’s growing line of control panels available in 4 Configurations with the COBALT® WAVE CP-44 and COBALT® WAVE CP-42L joining the existing 78 and 84L button panels. The COBALT WAVE CP-44 features 44 back-lit buttons while the COBALT WAVE CP-42L features 42back-lit LCD dot matrix display buttons. The WAVE panels allow different setups to be stored and recalled from the browser to provide extremely flexible operations. After customizing the panel, simply upload the configuration to a different panel for rapid changes on the network. The control panels are easily customizable for almost any application using Lua scripts.
Other recent Cobalt additions include the COBALT® ARIA OG-AUD4-DANTE, a 12G 4-channel unit that simultaneously embeds and de-embeds audio between SDI, DANTE, AES and MADI with flexible routing and mixing and built in Frame Sync capabilities; the broadcast-grade COBALT® PACIFIC 9992-ENC-INDIGO software defined openGear® encoders; and the COBALT® INDIGO OG-2110-BIDI4-GATEWAY, a bi-directional quad-channel native ST 2110 interface to SDI I/O available in the openGear form factor.
