Amagi highlights his «high-impact team»

Rodrick Smith, Sales Director Latam of Amagi, talked to Prensario after officially joined the Amagi team in May 2026. ‘As part of this exciting transition I am relocating to Mexico City to be directly on the ground in the region, ensuring we are fully aligned with our clients, partners, and the unique dynamics of the local markets’.

According to Smith, after years of helping major Latin American broadcasters and media networks navigate technical transitions, he has witnessed firsthand how the region’s operational needs evolve. ‘Joining Amagi feels like a natural and powerful next step’.

‘What sets Amagi apart is its position as the global benchmark for cloud-native video infrastructure and SaaS-based broadcasting. Broadcasters in LATAM are looking for agility, scalability, and ways to transition from heavy CAPEX models to flexible OPEX environments without compromising quality. Bringing Amagi’s proven, cutting-edge cloud orchestration back to the relationships and networks I’ve built over my career is an incredible opportunity’, assured Smith.

Asked about the work with Ronaldo Dias, Sales Director US, the executive expressed: ‘He has built a strong foundation for Amagi in the region, and I am thrilled to partner with him to accelerate our growth across Latin America. My focus is on expanding our footprint into key growth markets—including Mexico, the Andean region, Southern Cone and Brazil—while deepening our enterprise relationships with Tier-1 media companies’.

‘By combining Ronaldo’s deep regional insights with my background in complex broadcast workflows and infrastructure, we are creating a high-impact team. Together, we’ll be able to cover more ground, offer dedicated local support, and deliver customized cloud strategies to operators of all sizes across LATAM’.

What are operators looking for?

‘While FAST generated a lot of initial noise, the primary focus for enterprise operators today is operational efficiency, monetization, and seamless cloud migration. My immediate priorities center on three key areas:

– Cloud Playout & Workflow Automation (Amagi CLOUDPORT): Providing Tier-1 broadcasters with the flexibility to spin up, manage, and deliver linear channels instantly, reducing infrastructure footprint while maintaining broadcast-grade reliability.

– Server-Side Ad Insertion & Advanced Monetization (Amagi Thunderstorm): Helping content owners maximize ad revenue across OTT, CTV, and linear streams through precision targeting and seamless, buffer-free ad insertion.

– AI-Driven Automation (Amagi NewsPulse): Leveraging AI to revolutionize newsrooms and live coverage by automatically detecting key events, generating real-time highlights, and streamlining metadata creation. This allows regional news producers to get content to market faster while dramatically lowering production overhead.

Ultimately, our goal isn’t just selling tools—it’s helping regional media companies simplify their operations so they can focus on high-value content creation and revenue growth’, Smith concluded.
