NAB Show: PlayBox Neo Highlights Workflow, Security and IP Advances

PlayBox Neo will showcase the latest innovations across its PlayBox Neo Suite and integrated range of broadcast and media solutions at NAB Show 2026, focusing on enabling broadcasters and media organizations to operate more efficiently in today’s hybrid environments spanning on-premises, cloud, and IP-based workflows. The latest release introduces a series of enhancements designed to make complex, multi-user environments more secure, better connected, and easier to manage at scale.

PlayBox Neo will demonstrate the updated PlayBox Neo Suite throughout NAB Show 2026 in booth #N1425. The show runs from April 18-22 in Las Vegas.

One of the most significant updates is a new role-based user management system, which allows administrators to define exactly who can access specific tools and functions within the platform. In busy production environments where multiple operators, editors, and engineers are working simultaneously, this added control improves security, accountability, and day-to-day workflow clarity.

Building on this, PlayBox Neo also now supports integration with Active Directory via LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) with SSL encryption. This allows organizations to manage user logins and permissions through their existing IT systems, rather than maintaining separate credentials. The result is stronger security, simplified user management, and alignment with enterprise-level IT standards, increasingly important as broadcast operations become part of larger corporate networks.

Performance improvements are another key focus. The PlayBox Neo Multiviewer has been optimized to reduce bandwidth usage by up to 30%. This is especially impactful for teams working in remote production or cloud environments, where bandwidth can be limited or costly. By lowering data demands without compromising video quality, the system enables more stable monitoring, faster response times, and lower operational overhead.

On the integration side, PlayBox Neo has expanded its support for EditShare, a widely used platform for shared storage, media asset management, and collaborative editing. This integration ensures that media files are consistently identified and tracked across different systems, such as newsroom software, automation systems, and playout servers.

Enhancements to the ingest workflow further streamline operations. Media can now be automatically registered and made available for editing as it’s recorded, rather than waiting until the process is complete. This significantly reduces turnaround time, allowing teams to edit, produce, and deliver content faster – critical for the most topical live news and sports coverage.

Additional updates include support for both physical and virtual GPI (General Purpose Interface). Traditionally, GPI allows external hardware, such as buttons or control panels, to trigger actions within a broadcast system. By also supporting virtual GPI, PlayBox Neo enables these triggers to be handled through software, making it easier to integrate with cloud-based or automated workflows. This added flexibility helps organizations adapt their operations without being tied to specific hardware setups.

The platform also now supports the AJA KONA IP25 IP converter card, enabling compatibility with SMPTE ST 2110. This upgrade positions PlayBox Neo for seamless integration into next-generation broadcast environments, delivering high-quality, low-latency video with greater flexibility. Support for SMPTE ST 2022-7 further enhances reliability by ensuring uninterrupted signal delivery, even in the event of network issues.

“Everything we’re showing at NAB is about helping teams work more efficiently in real-world environments,” said Van Duke, Director of U.S. Operations at PlayBox Neo. “Whether that’s improving performance, simplifying integration, or strengthening security, it all comes back to making everyday operations smoother.”

PlayBox Neo solutions are based on modular products and services which can be easily customized to provide the exact capability needed for any scale of channel playout management – from ingest and scheduling through to transmission.
