SNEWS, a leading provider of newsroom automation solutions, is proud to announce that  the project “Amplifying riverside voices in the Amazon”, developed in partnership with Rede Amazônica, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the IBC Innovation Awards 2025 in  the Social Impact category. 

The project leveraged the SOUV Social platform to overcome the connectivity and logistical challenges of the Amazon region, enabling riverside communities to send journalistic content in real time through the Eu Amazônia app. With features such as offline uploads, automatic audio transcription, AI-based image recognition, and cloud integration, the solution gave visibility to communities that had long been excluded from mainstream media, democratizing access to information. 

The platform has already been adopted in more than 50 municipalities, generating hundreds of unique stories, strengthening community journalism, and reducing  broadcasters’ operational costs. Moreover, the initiative fostered digital inclusion, civic engagement, and a closer relationship between the population and the press.
