Technetix promotes Matthijs Laro to Director of Research

Technetix is pleased to announce the promotion of Matthijs Laro to Director of Research.

Matthijs was notably responsible for the development of Technetix‘ game-changing patented Direction Neutral Amplifier (DNA) technology. The DNA is a game-changer for next-gen networks, offering flex-split frequency division multiplexing with zero guard band. The technology, deployed across multiple products, enables ultra-wideband bi-directional signal flow on broadband cable network amplifiers without diplexers, providing maximum flexibility and enabling networks with future optionality.

Holding six patents, Matthijs’s promotion reflects not only his lasting impact on broadband innovation, but his outstanding technical leadership. In 2023, he led the design for the Technetix solution for VodafoneZiggo’s successful DOCSIS 4.0 field trial, further demonstrating his ability to translate advanced concepts into real-world solutions that shape the industry’s future.

Matthijs’s training specialized in a master’s degree in RF Technology within the Mixed Signal Microelectronics Group at Eindhoven University of Technology, following his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven. In a career at Technetix that began only a decade ago, he has made a significant impact being instrumental in the development of a number of groundbreaking technologies, already having filed six patents.

In recognition of his aptitude for leadership in combination with his deep technical expertise, Matthijs will also coach the R&D team in innovation and research. This is a new aspect of the role that offers the team a fresh dynamic while maintaining the department’s strong track record of delivering on groundbreaking innovation.

Jan Ariesen, CTO, added: “I am very pleased to see Matthijs grow as a leader in innovation. He has the capability to think outside the box, and this is combined with an extremely good theoretical background, makes him a true innovator. A well-deserved promotion.”
