Telemetrics Develops New TeleGlide Robotic Camera Trolley

Telemetrics introduced its new TG5 robotic camera cart to European broadcasters and production professionals.

Part of the Telemetrics TeleGlide family of robotic camera dollies, the new TG-5 offers superior performance due to built-in LIDAR sensors, an improved servo drive system, and a more esthetically pleasing housing that can easily be recessed into a production studio or corporate presentation venue floor.

‘Unlike any robotic camera track and trolley system on the market, the new TG-5 trolley is designed to be embedded into and flush with the floor, making it ideal to blend into innovative set designs without the track showing or causing safety issues for the crew/talent’, said Michael Cuomo, Vice President of Telemetrics.

‘This will allow studio engineers and designers to create new types of sets with AI-assisted, full robotic camera efficiency’.

Telemetrics has leveraged a number of the safety features of its popular OmniGlide® Robotic Roving platform studio pedestal, making the TG5 the safest and most elegant camera trolley Telemetrics has ever built.

There are laser scanners at the edge of each corner of the trolley so that if a person walks across the track, built-in x-y plane sensors will force the trolley to automatically stop. These AI sensors also help the trolley avoid collisions with set pieces.

The TG-5 also features built-in LEDs that light up to indicate if there is a person or object in its path under normal operating conditions. It also has additional safety features to detect failures in any of the components. For example, if the system senses a problem with a part of the trolley, it will automatically shut it down.

The trolley is ideal for AR/VR systems and with the Studio View feature—a real-time graphical 3D reproduction of the studio environment the system is operating in—found in Telemetrics’ RCCP-2A Studio (STS) and Legislative (LGS) software.

Lastly, the TG-5 is also backward compatible with all existing TeleGlide track systems (curved or straight), Televator® elevating columns and the full line of S5 series and RoboEye robotic pan/tilt heads. It is now in full production and will ship under normal lead times.
