Atika Boulgaz, EVP Global Communication at Viaccess-Orca, said to Prensario: ‘It was great to be back at NAB this year. During our meetings with TV operators, service providers, and technology partners from North America and the LATAM region, we gained insights about the prevailing challenges facing the video industry, the evolving landscape of the sector, and the transformative technology innovations reshaping video operations and optimizing viewing experiences’.
‘Moreover, one of the main topics of conversation at the show was AI. With AI being at the core of Viaccess-Orca’s technology and expertise, this gave us a great opportunity to highlight our data-centric and AI-driven solutions — as well as the knowledge of our technology experts — and how these solutions help address the inherent challenges involved with providing great TV and OTT experiences in a very dynamic and competitive area’, Boulgaz said.
‘At the 2024 NAB Show, we demonstrated how our blend of human ingenuity and AI is reshaping video delivery and monetization. Service providers saw firsthand how VO’s solutions simplify operations and enhance viewer satisfaction by enabling personalized viewing experiences. In particular, we highlighted the use of AI, ML, and MLOps across our TV platform, Secure Video Player, Targeted TV Advertising solution, Anti-Piracy Services, and our brand-new Audience Segmentation Service, empowering video service providers to adapt to the evolving TV landscape’.
About the expectations of VO for this year at the region, Boulgaz explained: ‘We expect that piracy will continue to evolve this year. We’re seeing new forms of piracy emerging in LATAM, with the newest type being CDN leeching — where unauthenticated users attach end points to a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to illegally access the legitimate services that the CDN carries. Video service providers will need to fortify their security measures, integrating AI and ML tools, and various other techniques — including advanced monitoring and analytics — to identify these sophisticated pirate attacks and put a stop to CDN leeching’.
‘In addition, we anticipate that the ubiquity of AI will continue to expand. The emergence of Gen AI is a compelling opportunity for our customers in the LATAM region to streamline their operations and to provide superior, personalized experiences tailored to viewers’ specific needs. We’re supporting personalized content discovery, recommendations, and protection with the utilization of large language models (LLM) through integration with LLMs on Microsoft Azure on Microsoft Azure, including Azure OpenAI Service’.
‘Furthermore, we foresee that prioritizing a user-driven TV experience will become a pivotal objective for video service providers in the LATAM region. Given the immense competition in the TV market and the plethora of viewing choices available, viewers often struggle to decide what to watch. Video service providers can address this issue by offering an exceptional service that begins with understanding viewer preferences. Leveraging data, analytics, and monitoring, service providers can deliver top-tier service quality and foster viewer engagement’, Boulgaz concluded.
